Meet Renee Aless Martinez
Renee Aless Martinez is a Houston-based artist whose work explores domesticity, identity, and symbolism through bold color and striking patterns. Working across printmaking and digital drawing, she creates compositions that elevate everyday life while reflecting on personal experience and belonging as a woman. The figure often anchors her work, surrounded by symbolic motifs—flowers, fruit, and stars—that transform familiar scenes into spaces of comfort and intensity. Through saturated color and rhythmic pattern, Martinez reveals the dualities of joy and anxiety, simplicity and excess. She received her BFA in Printmaking from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design and has contributed to public art projects including Discovery Green Mural Program and Downtown Houston ReFramed, while also collaborating on design work with local businesses and nonprofits. Martinez continues her art practice in Houston as an active member of Burning Bones Press.
